By combining phonetic and slang writing with obscene graffiti drawings, Dubuffet achieved a striking visual and poetic shortcut, referencing both cave paintings and the "outsider" art of the insane or prisoners, while producing a book of the highest erotic bibliophilia. Indeed, this book powerfully testifies to the need for transgression of codes that this genre implies.
